Disability Pension Allowed by Aft Chandimandir

Last Updated on June 15, 2024 by Satish Mishra

It is a matter of great joy and relief for a blind seapoy whose disability pension has been allowed by the AFT Tribunal Chandimandir after a long haul of 48 years . It took a real long time for blind seapoy to finally get the justice done.

Seapoy worked in army only for two years and eight months and joined only in 1968 February. He lost his vision while performing division level training exercise in Jhansi. Thus declared unfit in June 1970.

A resident of Rajpura  and former member of 16th Sikh Regiment, he was relived from duty with 40% disability.

Even though the matter was taken up with the authorities but it was denied. Finally the blind seapoy approached Ex-servicemen welfare association who took up the matter with Sikh Regiment.

The case was rejected by Military Advisors on Pension (MAP) in Controller of Defence Acct  (CDA) Allahabad on account of Not Aggrieved Nor Attributable (NANA) by the military services.

The seapoy was not left with any other option than to approach the AFT Tribunal Chandimandir who reluctantly decided 40% disability pension for two years and then to be medically reviewed by board thereafter.

Finally the tough time for seapoy is over as he has to do various odd jobs to meet the ends . The president of ex-servicemen welfare association is happy on the AFT recent order and confident that the pension will be increased to 100% since the seapoy is 100% blind .

This fact is yet to be ascertained by the medical board but for now the good days are back for blind seapoy.  All thanks to Armed Forces Tribunal Chandimandir who adjudicated the pension disability issue and brought justice.
